University-Affiliated Groups
-with an interest in soil health issues-

  • Organic agriculture research groups, units, centers and programs that are located at universities and colleges worldwide are listed in the "organic agriculture organizations" section ot the Worldwide Soil Health Portal.

  • CICP (the Consortium for International Crop Protection), which is made up of a number of US universities, works with developing nations to reduce food crop losses caused by pests.

  • US land-grant universities (those with agricultural colleges) are listed on USDA Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service Web site (-click on the map of the desired state). Territory land-grant universities in the Pacific are also included.

  • The Research Group at the Imperial College of London focuses largely on researching legume/rhizobium symbiosis and its impact on nutrient cycling.

  • CIIFAD (Cornell International Institute for Food, Agriculture and Development) works with partners in Africa, Asia, and Latin America on programs related to global food security, sustainable development, and environmental conservation.

  • PLEC (People, Land Management, and Environmental Change) is a program supported by the United Nations University that works with researchers and farmers from the developing world to build sustainable and participatory approaches to conservation.

  • The Biological Farming Systems Group at Wageningen University in the Netherlands focuses on natural ecological processes in sustainable agricultural farming systems.

  • The Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems is a research, education, and public service program at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
