Manure surplus processing at the farm level and in coordinated groups of farms

Description:
This paper is part of the proceedings for an internet conference on Integrated Bio-Systems which was held in 1998. It reports the results of pilot projects at a plant and on farms in Italy that investigated a method of managing swine manure surpluses. The solid fraction is separated from the manure slurry, and can then be composted and exported long distance to areas that have a high demand for fertilizers.
