The
on-line newsletters below contain material (or certain issues) that relate
to soil health. Topics include cover crops, tillage, sustainable agriculture,
development, agroforestry, indigenous knowledge, ethnobotany, etc.
Tropics/Subtropics Focus
- ACT
Info is the African Conservation Tillage Network's (ACT) monthly
electronic update available on the Web or via e-mail subs criptions
available at actnetwork@africaonline.co.zw.
- AgREN,
Overseas Development Institute's Agriculture Research and Extension
Network Newsletter covering small scale agriculture issues, can be accessed
from the publications link on the home page. A related "Network
Papers" series is also available.
- agroforester.com
has a variety of bulletins and free guides on agroforestry, forest establishment,
sheet mulching, weeds, leaf vegetables, and forestry technologies for
disturbed forests.
- The
CIEPCA
Newsletter is published by the Center for Cover Crops Information
and Seed Exchange in Africa) twice a year in English and French (all
in pdf and selected issues in html).
- Cover
Crop News,
published by CIDICCO (The Cover Crop Clearinghouse), is on-line (selected
issues) in English
and Spanish
(Boletines "Noticias Sobre Cultivos de Cobertura").
- ECHO
Development Notes (EDN), a quarterly technical bulletin about
practicle sustainable development issues in developing countries, is
available on-line, as hard copy or as an e-mail message.
- Winrock
International and the Forest, Farm, and Community Tree Network has made
issues of the FACT
Net News Newsletter published from 1996 to 1999 available on-line.
- IITA
(International Institute of Tropical Agriculture) has links to newsletters
of several other organizations, including CIEPCA (see above) and the
Sustainable Tree Crops Program (STCP)
- Indigenous
Knowledge and Development Monitor was a journal published from
1993 to 2001 to serve those with a professional interest in indigenous
knowledge systems and practices (IKSP).
- The
International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications
(INASP) has a list
of agricultural newsletters worldwide, many of which have
information on soil health.
- The
Lathyrus
Lathyrism Newsletter is published on-line by the Centre for
Legumes in Mediterranean Agriculture (CLIMA) and Third World Medical
Research Foundation (TWMRF).
- Legume
Research Network Newsletters
contain short articles on legume research, especially those based on
research aimed at integrating legumes into smallholder agriculture in
Kenya
- On-line
issues of the LEISA
(Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture) Magazine from March
1995 to present are available in pdf format from the Centre for Information
on Low External Input Sustainable Agriculture (ILEIA).
- Mucuna
News is a bulletin related to food and feed uses of Mucuna,
several species of which are well-known green manure/cover crops.
- Newsletter
for Ecofarming in Africa is a quarterly publication by
the German Foundation for International Development (DSE) and the Food
and Agriculture Development Center (ZEL).
- Soil
Fertility Matters is an on-line and hardcopy newsletter published
by the Southeast Asia Regional Network on Soil Fertility
and Improved Fallow Management.
- TSBF
Newsletter contains information gleaned by the Tropical
Soil Biology and Fertility (TSBF) Institute of CIAT.
- WASWC
Newsletter, published by the World Association of Soil and Water
Conservation, is available for 2001-2003 in pdf format.
- WOCAT
Newsletter, published quarterly by the World Overview of Conservation
Approaches and Technologies (WOCAT), is available on-line becginning
in March 2000 (pdf format).

Digest Newsletter dating back to 1993 are available from this
ATTRA (Appropriate Technology Transfer for Rural Areas) site.
- Soils
Are Alive
is a bimonthly newsletter maintained on the soilhealth.com
website of the Soil Biology Research Group at the University of Western
Australia.
- Past
issues of The
Australian New Crops Newsletter published from 1994 to 1999
are available from the University of Queensland.
- Organic
Farming Research Foundation Newsletter,
published since 1996, is available for downloading in pdf format.
- People
and Plants Online publishes an on-line newsletter every two
months. The current issue is on this page and free subscriptions to
future issues are available via email. People and Plants focuses on
capacity-building in applied ethnobotany.
- AcresUSA
is a subscription
on-line and hardcopy magazine about North American organic and sustainable
agriculture.
- The
University of California Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education
Program or UC SAREP (USA) publishes the Sustainable
Agriculture Newsletter three times a year.
