Soil
Testing Services
Note:

- Appropriate
Technology Transfer for Rural Areas (ATTRA) includes a list
of soil testing laboratories with an emphasis on:

humus, compost, organic matter and microbial analysis and

mineral analysis (with fertilizer recommendations)

- Cyber-Help
for Organic Farmers offers a comprehensive list of soil testing

- SWEP
Analytical Laboratories is
an Austrialian company offering soil balance analysis
- Cornell
Nutrient Analysis Laboratories staff analyze soil, water and
plant material for farmers, home garden owners, and a wide range of
agencies and individuals.
- The
Bartlett Arboretum at the University of Connecticut offers
soil testing which can include a standard nutrient analysis, soil pH,
percent organic matter and soil texture.
- The
Analytical Reference Library in Perth, Austrailia, offers soil
testing soil testing which includes an analysis of contaminants (e.g.
heavy metals, pesticides, PCBs, hydrocarbons, etc) and/or an analysis
of the soil's condition (e.g. salt content, pH, conductivity, nutrients,
etc).
- The
University of Connecticut has a soil nutrient analysis laboratory
whose primary purpose is to provide lime and fertilizer recommendations
for commercial agriculturalists and home owners. The Soil Nutrient Analysis
Laboratory also offers commercial agronomic and commercial vegetable
growers the Presidedress Soil Nitrate Test (PSNT).
- The
University of Tennessee Soil Test Laboratory can offer
a basic analysis of soil which provides a reading of pH, Phosphorous
and Potassium levels
- North
Dakota State Universities' Soil Test Lab,
offers soil fertility analysis including Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium,
Soluble Salts, pH and Organic Matter. Additional nutrient tests are
available upon demand for an additional cost.
- The

The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship Feed and Fertilizer
Bureau
gives a comprehensive list off the soil testing laboratories that were
certified Spring, 2003, through the Iowa Soil Testing Laboratory Certification
Program.

The University of Wisconsin
runs both the Soil and Plant Analysis lab in Madison and the Soil and
Forage Analysis lab in Marshfield. These laboratories do both routine
and special soil tests; most tests are offered at both sites.
- The

and 3) related agricultural diagnostic and advisory services.
- The Conservation
Agriculture Technology database lists commercially available
equipment that is specifically designed or is essential for the successful
introduction of Conservation Agriculture.
- Agroforester.com
provides consulting services and trainings for communities and landowners
interested in forest and agroforest development.
- Woods
End Research Laboratory is a Maine (USA)-based research
and education organization that also provides compost testing, bioremediation
design and sells composting materials/kits.
