Partners Developing
The Worldwide Soil Health Information Portal

TropSCORE, the Tropical Soil Cover and Organic Resource Exchange, is an international information exchange consortium focusing upon tropical soil management using soil cover, organic inputs, and related low external input agricultural practices. Core members involved in the conception of the Soil Health Portal include:

  • CIDICCO, The International Cover Crops Clearinghouse, an international NGO in located Tegucigalpa, Honduras 
  • CIEPCA, the Cover Crops Information and Seed Exchange Center for Africa, formerly located in Cotonou, Benin    
  • CIIFAD/MOIST, the Cornell International Institute for Food, Agriculture and Development's working group on Management of Organic Inputs in Soils of the Tropics, (coordinator for the portal development team)
  • ECHO, an international NGO located in Fort Meyers, Florida
  • Albert R. Mann Library, associated with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University, hosts and directs technical development of the Worldwide Soil Health Portal.

    AgNIC, the Agricultural Network Information Center, is a network of the US National Agriculture Library, US Land-Grant Universities, and other institutions. The Worldwide Soil Health Portal is an affiliate member of AgNIC.

    Corporacion Artemisa, a rural development NGO located in Medellin, Colombia, coordinates the Portal's South America activities.

    NEON, the Northeast Organic Network, is a consortium of farmers, researchers, extension educators and grassroots nonprofits in the northeastern USA working together to improve organic farmers' access to research and technical support. NEON members are involved in content development for the Portal.

    Cornell Cooperative Extension Soil Health Program Work Team assists in the Soil Health Portal's content development through farmer, extension staff and researcher content review.

    Additional institutions/programs providing feedback on the Portal:
    - The Soil Fertility Taskforce for Africa (funded by Rockefeller Foundation)
    - Panamerican School for Agriculture at Zamoroano (Phil Arnerson)
    - Agroforestry and Land Rehabiliation in the Amazon Project (a project collaborating with the Large-Scale Biosphere Atmosphere Programme)



    Financial assistance
    for developing the Worldwide Soil Health Portal is provided by the following:

    • USDA funded the 2001 project as well as expansion of the project from the Tropical Soil Health Gateway into the Worldwide Soil Health Portal during 2002/2003. Website construction has been supported by the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture under Agreement No. 2001-34416-10368 administered by Cornell University and the American Distance Education Consortium (ADEC).
