Agroforestry and Forestry Organizations

  • agroforester.com is a private educational and research organization based in Hawaii (USA) that offers a free on-line journal, consulting services, workshops, and tree seedlings, seeds, and plant inoculants.
  • Agroforestry Research Trust is a temperate agroforestry charity based in England. Its staff conducts agroforestry research, and offer seed, plant, and publications sales, tours, and courses.
  • ETFRN (European Tropical Forest Research Network) is a forum for communication between European organisations, researchers, EU institutions and others concerned with (sub-)tropical forest research. They have a newsletter, provide information on workshops and other resources.
  • FACT Net (the Forest, Farm, and Community Tree Network) was a network of community groups, development workers, tree breeders, researchers, farmers, and students interested in multipurpose trees. FACT Net, which focused on extension, communication and research, continues to run through Winrock International.
  • IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to improve international collaboration on forestry and forest products research.
  • ASB (Alternatives to Slash and Burn) is a global partnership of more that 50 institutions who are aiming to conserve forests and reduce poverty in the humid tropics.
  • The World Seed Program, which is run by the New Forests Project, supplies tree seeds to farmers, environmental groups, women's cooperatives, municipal governments, and others.
  • The Neem Foundation is a non-profit organization based in India whose mission is to promote global awareness of Neem. This page notes the uses, potential, and management of neem.
